Chair: Debbie Maurer, Lake County Forest Preserve District, Illinois

Short Term Goals:

- Encourage the use of the North American Weed Management Association’s (NAWMA) invasive species inventory standards by individuals and organizations collecting data on invasive species.

- Incorporate information/links about invasive species ranking methods into the MIPN website.

- Incorporate ecological and control information/links on potentially invasive species in the Midwest into the MIPN website.

- Assist states and provinces in the development of state/province-specific lists of potentially invasive species and develop a broader list for the Midwest Region

- Assess the merits of a Midwest regional database/portal for storage/sharing of data on invasive species.

- Research the options for data sharing among states/provinces, utilize information generated by the Global Invasive Species Information Network (GISIN) and other existing data-sharing systems.

Long Term Goals:

- Incorporate summaries/links of invasive species mapping, inventory, EDRR and control projects into an MIPN website.

- Develop a regional database or portal to facilitate data sharing among state/provinces, within North America, and eventually within GISIN.

- Promote communication and collaboration among individuals, organizations, and agencies on invasive species initiatives through annual MIPN meeting.

- Assist states, provinces, counties, and regions, etc, in the development and implementation of EDRR programs following the conceptual plan of the Federal Interagency Committee for the Management of Noxious and Exotic Weeds (FICMNEW).
